Lighting has become a passion for Dennis. He got started in lighting while in the hospital recovering from an industrial accident, an 85 foot fall. A friend brought in a book about light and lighting and Dennis fell in love with it. "It's an art, like painting. You try to visualize, get the feel for the site and then use your experience and technology to bring it to life."
While on a trip to his native home, Canada, Dennis and his wife Regina passed through the quaint, coastal villages of Maine. They took a break, looked around, looked at each other and decided that this was the place they wanted to call home. Within a year they were settled and bringing to the area a new concept of lighting, service and customer satisfaction. Located near an intersection of two highways known to the locals simply as 17-90, the Fentons took that as the name of their showroom, 17-90 Lighting. In the years since, the 17-90 showroom has moved just a short ways west down Route 90, but they kept the name and the commitment to provide quality lighting products coupled with outstanding service.
With advancements in technology, Dennis found the perfect pallette and brush for his art form. He quickly became a pioneer in the new field of designer lighting. Now, hundreds of homes, commercial properties, parks and civic sights throughout the Northeast and across the county bear the marks of his artistic brush. Known as the "lighting guru," Dennis has received national recognition from the lighting industry. His designs have received awards for excellence and creativity in design and implementation. Although the Fenton's guard the privacy of their clients very carefully, you would be surprised at the names you would recognize on 17-90 Lighting's project list.
